I was born in New England where the rhythms of the ocean and the strength of tradition shaped my earliest sense of story. I grew up steeped in a world of books, ideas, and the craft of language--a foundation that continues to anchor my writing and teaching.
A graduate of St. John's College in Santa Fe, I have taught literature and writing at the University of Detroit Mercy, Rhode Island College, and Emerson College. My teaching shows the same passion that defines my creative work: a love of wordcraft, a belief in the power of narrative, and a honed instinct for helping others find their voice. My students would tell you that I am relateable, curious, and committed to the transfomative possibilities of writing and literature.
"In the Shadow of Alden Light" reflects who I am as both a writer and teacher. Infused with the texture of the Atlantic seacoast and the sensibility of my New England roots, this book is a tribute to the landscapes, communities, and truths that have shaped my life. The story invites readers into a world where language is alive, memory is tidal, and the stories we carry have the power to shape us.
